Meringue Shells
Mmmm! A family favorite!
Mom just made these with Bergen & Berit the other week-end so I thought I better get this recipe online! I've heard Bergen has made these several times since and that she has become really good at making them!! I should place an order with her!
Thanks for the pictures, Bergen!
Meringue Shells
Ingredients:
*3 egg whites (1/3 to 1/2 cup)
*1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
*1 cup sugar
Instructions:
1. Turn the oven on to 275 degrees.
2. Beat the egg whites and cream of tartar together until frothy.
3. Then beat in the sugar little by little.
4. Beat until stiff & glossy.
5. Spread the mixture onto brown bags on a baking sheet--form into little "nests".
6. Bake 60 minutes (depending on your oven--maybe a little less).
7. Turn off oven and leave in until cool.
8. Serve with ice-cream topped with fresh berries, cut-up fruit or chocolate/butterscotch sauce!
NOTE: Eggs, mixer & bowl should be room temperature.
