My SIL makes this ginger-scented pecan recipe and gives them out as gifts at Christmastime. I thought it was such a great idea so I started to do that for my neighbors too. Last year, I came across this sugared pecan recipe and fell in love with it! I think it's even easier to make than the ginger-scented pecans and I love how it tastes!!
Sugared Pecans
Ingredients
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
3 large egg whites
3 large egg whites
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 cups pecan halves
Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
3. Pour the butter onto the lined sheet.
4. In a large bowl, mix the egg whites, sugar and cinnamon.
5. Add the pecan halves and toss until they are fully coated.
6. Spread the pecans onto the baking sheet.
7. Bake for 10 minutes, stir the pecans; bake for 7 minutes, stir the pecans. Bake an additional 7 minutes, as needed. Careful! They can burn quick!
8. Cool on the baking sheet for 10 to 15 minutes before serving (breaking apart pieces that may be stuck together) or put them into little baggies to give as gifts!
ENJOY!!
NOTE: I use 12 inch Wilton decorating bags found at Michaels.
NOTE: I found that one batch of this recipe fills about 5 of those 12 inch Wilton decorating bags.
NOTE: I buy a large bag of pecans from Costco--it has 8 cups worth so it makes 2 batches of this recipe. For my Christmas gift needs, I need two bags of pecans!
NOTE: I used salted butter.
NOTE: As suggested in the comments section of the Food Network page, it saves a bowl if you melt the butter on the parchment paper covered pan as the oven warms up and you mix up your pecans in the egg white/sugar/cinnamon. Just check the butter every few minutes as it doesn't take long to melt. Pull out pan and then add the pecans to it when you are ready for those to bake!

NOTE: These are great just as a snack or in your salad!
I use these holiday jar labels!
